The Company was established in 1975, started form the garage of BRA Mooryati Soedibyo�s residence. In 1978, the Company began to run its business commercially, namely by producing herb distributed in Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Bandung and Medan. In its development, the request of consumer was increasing so in 1980s the Company began to develop various kinds of traditional cosmetics.

On 8 April 1981, the Company�s factory was operated officially. In order to strengthen capitalization structure as well as to implement its vision as Cosmetics and Natural Herb Company with the Best High Technology in Indonesia, the Company made initial public offering and recorded its shares in PT. Bursa Efek Jakarta in 1995.

Soon after marriage, Mr. Paulus Tumewu and his wife, Tan Lee Chuan, left the family home in Ujung Pandang, Sulawesi to begin business in Jakarta. They has envisioned a department store that sold quality goods at affordable price for the low income segment. In 1978 they opened their first store which specialized mainly in garment and clothing in Jalan Sabang. They named their store “Ramayana Fashion Store”

With the good growth of the store, new lines of products were added to compliment the original focus of the business, which was garment and clothing. In 1985, fashion apparels such as shoes, handbags, accessories were introduced. Moving forward with optimism, Ramayana was also expanding its coverage area. In that same year, the first store outlet outside Jakarta was opened in Bandung.

By 1989 Ramayana has become a retail chain, consisting of 13 outlets and employing a total of 2,500 workers. They variety of products sold has also became more extensive to include household necessities, toys and stationeries. Soon enough, in 1993 one stop shopping center was implemented in every Ramayana store due to the extensive product range and affordable prices.

Ramayana continues to grow, covering more cities and building a greater retail chain. Today, Ramayana operates 104 stores in 42 major cities with total gross selling space of 781,330 sqm, employing 17,867 employees. The traditional family company has blossomed into a giant retail modern business.

Company produce Motor Cycle Radial ‘MC’ and Passanger Car Radial ‘PCR’ for both own brand (Achilles, Corsa & Strada) and offtake, with the areas of marketing in domestic and international markets. The company was established in 1988 as PT Oroban Perkasa. At the beginning, the company’s layout, design technological assistance was from Pirelli-Italy. The company also received technical and distribution assistance from Continental GMbh-Germany. During the crisis in Asia in 1999, all liabilities of the Company transferred to the National Bank Restructuring Agency (“IBRA”).

The current era of business success started from when the Companywas taken over by new management (PVP XVII Pte Ltd and PT. Indokemika Jayatama) in 2004, and completed restructuring including debt-to-equity conversion and an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 2005.
